Last week Luminary co-hosted the Intercolor International Colour Symposium together with The British Colour Group and Intercolor_international this meeting takes place twice per year, each country taking turns to host.

37 delegates from 18 member countries landed in East Sussex for a 3 day event immersed in colour, culture, and beautiful English countryside. This is a truly inter-generational and international group of colour and material specialists; it is a rare gathering, a not-for-profit event, a sharing of ideas and industry knowledge from around the world.

Day 1 was spent at the historical home of the Bloomsbury Set Charleston House in Firle, where some of the 20th century’s most progressive artists and writers came together to imagine society differently. Artists including Duncan Grant and Vanessa Bell lived together with writer Virginia Woolf. Our guests were given private tours of the house interior and access to all exhibitions in Firle and Lewes.

Charleston was the perfect setting for our group of colour forecasters and material specialists to engage in colour, art and progressive ideas - as we begin to create the global colours and themes for 2027 and beyond.

The question: "What is Your Impact?"
As we look to the future to determine the colours for 2027. We considered the longterm future - 25 years ahead. Each country showed a short film in the Haybarn at Charleston House, a deep dive into their own culture, country and current inspirations.
Where do you stand between HOPE and DESPAIR?

Together with The British Colour Group, Anna hosted the event in collaboration with Charleston House and Charleston Gallery in Lewes. We held break out meetings and a popup supper at Luminary Studio. Food by Seven Sisters Spices and wild flowers from Anna's garden.

Thankyou to The British Colour Group, The Charleston Trust and all members of Intercolor for travelling across the world to stay in Lewes.
And also thanks to Imogen Makepeace Mayor of Lewes for a wonderful speech, Pell Pool for early morning group swims, The White Hart Hotel and The Lewes Arms for hosting suppers.
